ANITA COUWENBERGH

abstract poetical passion in art

Anita Couwenbergh is a Dutch artist living in Eindhoven, she feels strongly connected to other countries and cultures because of family, friends and work.

Meeting up with different people, studies and travels, all these impressions are contributing to vivacity and nurturing creativity.  Reading, listening to (or making) music and being in nature add to this too. Personal adventures, struggles and happiness: if they have been felt deep inside they can all transform to artistic expression.

She loves colors and oil paint.

Her paintings are meant in such way that the viewer can make a personal connection through the colors, shades, motions and potential forms, probably different from what other people see but as much real and of value as what other people experience. So one can use ones own fantasy looking at the paintings and the viewer is invited to contemplate without need to discover what the artist saw in the creating process.

She also loves reusing old materials.

It is important in your work to participate as well as you can in  protecting the environment. One way is to breathe new life into rejected materials. It is interesting to change the original purpose of a product (like CD's or crucifixes) not throwing it away if there seems no need for it anymore. It is a challenge. For religious objects we need respect while doing this often not because of the materials but for the inner values (once) connected to them.
